National Auxiliary
Announcements
Hello Auxiliary Members,
The auxiliary board of directors would like to send their regards and
share some announcements on the past year's activities and updates for
this year's 2012 national meeting in North Carolina.
The Auxiliary Member meeting is being held tentatively in Saturday
Morning before the General CVMA FM and membership meeting. Of course day
and time could change as they modify the agenda. We have two board
positions to vote on, a report on a proposal for a CVMA college
scholarship fund supported by the auxiliary, a report on the sister care
packages proposal, and general business of the auxiliary. We would like
to keep the meeting under two hours.
Positions up for election: President and Sargent at Arms. If you would
like to nominate someone for this position, please send it to Scout, the
National Auxiliary Secretary, so it can be posted accordingly. The
nominee must be present at all national meetings while in office as well
as the election year. For exact position descriptions, please contact
Scout. The nominees will be asked to speak to membership about their
qualifications at the national meeting, and will leave the room for the
official vote.
Please submit any agenda items you would like the Board to consider for
the Auxiliary meeting.
This past year we have made great strides to organize the auxiliary and
focus on some national projects like the college fund for CVMA members,
and the CVMA Sister care packages. We have starting a new checking
account for auxiliary business near our new treasurer. We have acquired
an updated EIN for recognition of the auxiliary for federal tax status,
and our application has been submitted for a 501c(3) non profit
classification. We expect to be fully classified as non profit by June.
That means we can accept start up funds from the national BOD and start
taking in auxiliary dues for our projects.
Auxiliary State Reps: We will be moving forward in our quest for a
representative from each state. We mentioned last year that states
should be thinking about who they would like to have as there state
contact for auxiliary information. This is necessary if we are to move
forward with the national projects mentioned above, and crucial to the
auxiliary as we move forward and start registering auxiliary members and
collecting dues. Please try to discuss this at your state level meetings
and be voting in state reps before nationals if possible. We currently
have 17 state reps. There are guidelines for this process, contact Scout
if you need them.
Auxiliary CVMA Scholarship Committee: We need a diverse committee of
auxiliary members to serve on the scholarship committee. Some of you
volunteered last national meeting. If you were there last year and/or
would like to be on the committee, please send your contact information
to Scout at Theresa.ennis@gmail.com.
Auxiliary google group discussion board: if you are not a member of the
auxiliary google group and would like to be, please send your request to
Scout at Theresa.ennis@gmail.com.
Newsletters: Please send news and stories from your state about events
to Cricket at lakowgirl20@gmail.com.
Cricket is writing an auxiliary newsletter and we need your help. It's a
great way to get to know each other and find out about stuff going on
around the country. Please submit something from your state.
President Kathy 'Helkat' McKinley
Vice President Nancy 'Calamity' McElfish
Secretary Theresa 'Scout' Ennis
Treasurer Nora 'Silver Fox' Lyle Johnston
Sargent at Arms Suzie 'Suzie Q' Ray
Public Relations Jaclyn 'Cricket' Haller
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you in June.
